Remembering Jim

Jim Vose was my neighbour across the street. He was four years my senior and I had much respect for him. At the beginning of WW.2 he was taken on by the shipyards in Collingwood and worked in the drafting department. He was there only a short time when he received his call to report for military service, and chose to enlist in the Airforce. Jim was the kind of fellow that when he put his mind to do a project it got done, such as the time he built a boat to the plans he had for it.Jim was into body building and had me over every wed. night for lessons. He also had much respect for his parents and set a good example for anyone to follow. I, like Jim, worked in the yards till I also got my call for military, and chose the Navy. While on leave and visiting Jim's Mom she informed me of his missing in action. This was very sad news for me. LEST WE FORGET the many young gallant men who died for us.
