While watching a late night CBC program aired May 23 2011 CBC presented a "Short" Titled "A part of our Heritage" "In Flanders fields". It offered a description of the scene the day the famous poem was written. It depicts Lt. Col. John A. McCrae (The Poet) discarding the piece after writing it.Explaining when asked,.. he was not sure what it was. As a writer I connected to this...It often takes time to understand my own work. Also reminding me how some things may have way more importance and have much more meaning than I give it credit for, and how it is important to share. As I was patting myself on the back for realizing this, a tease of a melody played through my inner ear. I knew it was something good so I grabbed my guitar and found a rhythm, then played with the first verse long enough to burn it in my brain so I could work with later. Then I marked that day on my calender "Flanders Fields" .It has come a long way from that day, I could not tell you how many times I have sung this melody now, but over 1000 easily. It has been a quest developing the structure of this melody that has resulted in 2 versions and oportunity to sing as the dead, for the dead. I respectfuly offer for a new generation .

Dedicated to my Grandfather Albrique Chevigny WW1-WW2. His brothers he lost in the wars and every single soul that fought and fights oppression.

Recorded Oct. 30 2011... Thor Leif Tunold was very happy to acompany me with his masterfull piano/keyboard playing.
